Last week Natural England launched the Green Infrastructure Framework, a guide to improving quality of life for urban communities and creating climate resilient towns and cities. Designed to work alongside Biodiversity Net Gain it supports the greening of urban areas connecting towns and cities to the surrounding landscape aiding nature recovery and improving access to green and blue spaces.
The GI framework will help developers and planning authorities to meet NPPF requirements to consider GI in local plans and new developments and can also be used by land managers and local communities to plan for improvements to existing green spaces.
